So, um, it all started when Elle gave me this book

and now I have this obsession with Frank Lloyd Wright. I made my mom take me to see some of his houses in Oak Park, IL.

Here is his house...

Here is Rubie running down Forest Avenue...

Arthur B. Heurtley House

Nathan G. Moore House

Edward R. Hills

Edward H. Cheney House - This is the house where Frank Lloyd Wright met Mamah Borthwick Cheney (the person the book is about).

Are the names of the houses the original owners and do you know anything about current owners?

I think FLW houses are named after the people who originally commissioned him to build it.

I really like the Hills house. Did you get to go inside any of them?

No, the only one with a tour was Frank Lloyd Wright's house - but we had 2 toddlers and 1 infant with us. I can just picture how that would have gone.

I love the way FLW uses the elements to help define his designs.

So jealous you got to see them.

I just finished the book today! I am obsessed too, but live nowhere near IL.

My book club is doing a girls weekend in Deep Creek, MD and traveling to PA to see Falling Water and Kentuck Knob in August! I can't wait.

I am glad I discovered your blog. I love photography as well, and your pics are beautiful. Your daughter is so sweet!

If you're interested in a more challenging fictional read on Wright and his wives and lovers, check T.C. Boyle's _The_Women_. Thanks for these photos!

So I was SOOOO happy to see the photograph. to the lady who is going to see Fallingwaters.....ooooh you are so lucky, I want to build a house like that so badly please post pictures if you can.
Thank God I am not the only FLW fan out there.

We have many of his later houses here in L.A., one is open to the public, but the others are not. They are really interesting and more fanciful than his earlier work.

My husband and I are avid FLW followers and have visited Taliesin in wisconsin and Taliesin West in Arizona as well as Falling water. Walked the streets of Oak park. I just finished Loving Frank for book club and loved it. I already knew the ending having visited Taliesin. I loved seeing the picture of the Cheney House. So sad about the deaths who knows what could have happened had she lived.
